Dr. Lusk, along with Drs Miller and Brandt, are
the most qualified herp vets I've found in the Austin area.
Dr. Lusk has cared for my 12 year-old green iguana for at
least 6-8 years, and is very knowledgeable about reptiles and iguanas in
particular. All vets at the Westgate Hospital have extensive reptile
experience. (06/06/03)

This place is a little pricey but they do have a large staff
and excellent facility. They are a 24 hour animal hospital. I used
them once for a problem I had with a pet snake. They made a correct
diagnosis and gave me medicine for my snake, but unfortunantly were unable
to save it in time :( (08/31/07)

currently not to mention all the ones he has owned in the past. I highly
recommend him to anyone in that area. (12/27/03)

RM - This is a mobile vet service Dr. Edling has
just started (May 2002). He makes a house call and sees as many animals
as you need seen (great for multiple exotic households), charging an
hourly rate plus lab & meds. Website provided is from emergency clinic
where he worked prior to beginning this mobile service. At this time, it
still includes his history/profile.
This is a new mobile vet service in the DFW area. Although I
haven't actually seen Dr. Edling yet myself, he comes highly
recommended by other vets in the area and has excellent credentials.

Our Iguana Mikko was examined after responses on your site
concurred with my opinion that she may be suffering MBD. Looking on your
vet referral info, I found Metroplex, where we had taken our sick dog
for emergency treatment. Very good, very nice folks.
Anyway, They were very thorough, determined that she was a he, weighing
4 pounds 6 ozs. 4 feet and 7inches long. Xrays showed him to be in fine
bone health. Ms. Kiernicki was great with Mikko, very patient, and not
at all upset when he gave her an impromptu poop sample--which she said
was good looking and indicative of a health lizard. I would highly
recommend her as a vet. PS: when we arrived around 7pm for our appointment,
she was in with a little netherland rabbit having trouble delivering
babies (which we have gone through also!) If you have varied pets like we
do, and they get into this or that from time to time, I highly
recommend Metroplex in general, and Ms. Kiernicki specifically. (07/13/02)

wasn't eating as well as normal. They gave her a complete exam, tested her
stool for parisites, did blood work and took xrays. They seemed to know a

advise on the treatment, and wanted to see her back in a week for a free
follow up. (03/09/01)

JM - Sulcata tortoise and several box turtles.
Jessica is a very friendly person who as far as I can tell knows
exactly what she's doing when treating a reptile. The tortoise we adopted
had been found with gunshot wounds in 2002, Jessica expertly repaired her.
She's a very healthy tortoise today.
I was given a wild box turtle after he'd been dog chewed. His entire
plastron was broken, Jessica expertly repaired him, implanted a feeding
tube, and treated him for infection. As of Feb,2006 it's only been 3
months since I took him in; he is now eating on his own, not sick, and
doing very well. It'll be years before he's fully healed but if not for
her he'd be dead now. I have another box turtle who had a respiratory
infection, Jessica cured her.
She's a really good veterinarian, I recommend her to local exotic
keepers all the time. (02/08/06)

I initially took my iguanas in to have them checked over
after one bit the other, but since they had never seen a vet before, I ask
them to give them a good check up. It was a 3 hour drive to the vet and
I was in town on business so I left my girls with them while I took
care of business. When I got back to pick them up, they felt like they had
just been taken out of the refrigorator. Then I ask if they checked for
parasites, and they said "NO! because they can only get parasites from
eating the wrong foods". I was very upset because my day had been
wasted! All they did was give me antibiotics for the bite, and charged me
over $100.00 (10/11/04)

Dr. Blonien is extremely knowledgable> with
herps. Has always been thorough in diagnosis and communicates to each
customer in a manner that he/she will understand. All business practices
have been reputable in my experience and nothing has been treated for
anything without my prior knowledge and approval. In addition staff has
always been wonderful and caring to deal with. Personally, in my
experience, Dr. Bloniens office has been very open with offering a limited
credit account, which I have been very grateful for, as I was allowed to
make payments in a reasonable time period on my balance. All in all a
wonderful (and growing) veterinarians office. I highly recommend Dr.
Charles Blonien for all of your herp needs. I've had several Ball Pythons
examined and treated, one
RedTail Boa that was unfortunately and not in my care eaten half to death by
a prey item (rat), and several other species that were treated
correctly and thusly survived due to excellent professional diagnosis by Dr.
Blonien as well as my own amateur care at home as advised by the doctor.
